You Gotta Love a Parade! Help DGTDO show off our Democratic strength in local parades this summer!

By Chris Hotchkin

Memorial Day – Our first parade of the season will be the Westmont Memorial Day Parade held on Memorial Day, May 29 in the morning.  This patriotic parade honors our fallen heroes, and we will be marching with our special DGTDO banner that remembers PFC Gunnar Hotchkin. We will line up on Naperville Road, east of Cass Ave. in Westmont between 9:00 and 9:30, and the parade steps off at 10:00. Following the parade there is a brief ceremony and we usually gather after for lunch.

July 4th Hinsdale – On the 4th of July, we will be marching along with our float that features our DGTDO banner honoring Red Brownson. First will be the Hinsdale parade. As we have not been in the Hinsdale parade for a few years, and with the very strong Indivisible group in Hinsdale, we want to show Hinsdale the strength of the Resistance by having a very large group of fired-up Dems on parade. This parade steps off at 10:00 and we usually line up about 9:00.

July 4th Downers Grove -Later in the afternoon, we will participate in the Downers Grove July 4th Parade, as we have for many years. Let’s have mobs of DG Dems marching down Main Street in Downers Grove. This parade steps off about 1:00 and we line up about noon.  We will have our float in both July 4th parades, which provides seating for those who might have difficulty walking the parade. Watch the June newsletter for information about line up locations for both July 4th parades.
