WHEN Democrats VOTE Democrats WIN!
(Step 1. Register Democrats to VOTE!)
The key to success in the 2018 elections, and beyond, is to get Democrats out to vote. The ONE goal of the DGTD Voter Registration Action Team is to build up the Democratic voter base! This is a marathon, not a sprint, and we look forward to working with all of you!
The DGTD Voter Registration Action Team’s first step is to make Voter Registration as simple as possible for both the volunteers (thank you!) & the potential voters! So we have created a quick & easy one page “toolkit” for volunteers to use. The toolkit includes Illinois rules and regulations, as well as tips and contact information. Secondly we wanted to drill down to target potential voters, historically supportive of Democratic Party values, but who have not always shown up at the polls! In particular we are focusing on citizens who may feel disenfranchised (or frankly, disinterested) – particularly younger voters, immigrants and minority groups. To that end we have assembled a variety of places to set up voter registration opportunities, some conventional: senior housing, libraries, houses of worship, and some not: apartment and condo buildings, school and community events, grocery stores, coffee shops, high schools, colleges and laundromats!
At our regular DGTD meeting on October 11th we will focus on Voter Registration. The new director of DuPage Election Commission will give us an overview and we will have time for quick break out training sessions! We look forward to your ideas and answering any questions you may have!
