Democracy under attack at the DuPage Forest Preserve

Dan Hebreard is running for President of the DuPage County Forest Preserve District in the general election.  He is running against the incumbent who continues to challenge Dan being on the ballot.  Democracy means we have a right to vote and Voters in DuPage County should have a choice.  It shouldn’t be this difficult to have a choice.

The fight to remain on the ballot continues. Yesterday Daniel got the unfortunate news that his opponent has now filed in the Appellate Court to prevent him from being on the ballot as the democratic candidate for President of the DuPage County Forest Preserve District in the general election.

For those who aren’t up to speed on this situation the specific question at hand is whether the voters knew that the President of the Forest Preserve was the same as the President of the Forest Preserve District when they signed his petition. Did the failure to use the word “district” on his signature forms confuse a reasonable voter?

The Electoral Board voted unanimously that there was no confusion. The Objector then filed a petition to argue this issue before a Circuit Court Judge. The Circuit Court analyzed the case and found that there was no confusion among voters as to what office Daniel Hebreard was running for.

The frivolous nature of this case and waste of taxpayer money through court time is a big part of why Daniel is running for this position in the first place. The current commissioners compensation for their positions is a waste of taxpayer money that Daniel, if elected, will redistribute to put towards things like new modern washrooms, bridges to connect trails and communities, and improved technology infrastructure to make it easier for people to connect to nature.

If Daniel is denied from being on the ballot, the approximately one million residents of DuPage will have no choice for the President of the Forest Preserve District in the general election. If you believe people should have a choice please like and share this information with your fellow DuPage County voters and invite them to like this page. Thanks so much for your support!!
