IS MY VOTE REALLY COUNTED?

IS MY VOTE REALLY COUNTED?

By Maggie Brownlee

Jenny Cohn, attorney, election security advocate and writer (@WhoWhatWhy, @NYRDaily and more), first captured my attention after Trump won in 2016 with titles like this:

“New Hybrid Voting Machines Could Hack Our Democracy”;

“New Hybrid Voting System Can Change Paper Ballot After It Has Been Hacked”;

“Democrats Must Be Prepared to Contest Poll-defying Election Results”

The GOP only yesterday blocked three election security bills that, for one thing, banned voting machines from being connected to the internet (a vulnerable avenue for hacking)!

The assumption for all Americans has always been that our votes are counted. Now we know better. Voting machines can be hacked!

It was whispered among party members that even if we have any doubts about our voting machines…don’t say anything to alienate another voter by planting doubt. Now we know better. Jenny Cohn has debunked this myth by explaining that to KNOW about the flaws in Voting Machines and their vendor misrepresentations, actually results in MORE aware and motivated voters, which increases turnout.

Voter Suppression is another area of concern and we can thank Stacey Abrams of Georgia for taking this problem on via Fair Fight 2020.  Please donate to this great cause.

Russian interference has been well discussed and documented and verified via the Mueller Report and associated witnesses.

My goal in this article is to encourage us to VOTE ON PAPER. Hand Marked Paper Ballots are the best!

Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon has produced a bill “The Safe Act” for Secure Voting.

6 points in “The Safe Act”

  1. Hand Marked Paper Ballots
  2. Ban Barcode Voting
  3. Ban Hybrid Voting
  4. Ban Remote Access
  5. Ban Internet Connectivity
  6. Risk Limiting Audits

Call Congress to SUPPORT this BILL!

Jenny Cohn encourages the only reliable way our vote can best be counted is to take several steps as displayed here:

As Marilyn Marks (@MarilynRMarks1), another voter security advocate, states:

“The county boards have both power and responsibility.  No election gets finalized without the county board certification.  They do NOT have to certify a flawed election. They can require verifiable elections and demand audits. Most local boards can put many controls in place to require hand marked paper ballots and post-election verification.  They can require paper back up pollbooks. They can urge people to volunteer for poll watching and then author full transparency at the polls and tabulation.”

PLEASE CALL YOUR LOCAL ELECTION BOARD, COUNTY COMMISSIONER, COUNTY CLERK and demand they do the right thing to protect your vote.

YOU CAN MAKE a Change!

Check your registration regularly up to the voting day!  Things can happen so stay on top of it!

Ways to Vote:

You can submit a Mail-In Ballot. Obtain it online from the county election commission.

You can Early-Vote at the county election commission or other select locations.

You can Vote on Election Day at your designated polling place.
