SUPPORT ASMA AKRHAS FOR D86 SCHOOL BOARD
For those who live in Hinsdale District 86, the April 4 election for School Board is critically important. There are five candidates running for three spots—Asma Akhras and Debbie Willoughby are the two candidates who have my vote and full support. Asma in particular is a perfect candidate.
Asma is the only candidate with expertise in education. She is an Illinois licensed principal and holds a master’s degree in education. In her professional role for an education nonprofit, she trains principals and works with school districts on a regular basis. As the next D86 School Board will need to hire the top two administrators for D86, Asma’s experience and leadership will be helpful so that we can make sure to hire the most qualified candidates to ensure academic excellence for our students.
Asma is the mother of two Hinsdale South graduates and a current freshman, and she’s lived in Darien for decades. Asma is the only candidate from the Hinsdale South attendance zone, and the only current board member from the South area is not running for re-election.
Finally, there is a very good chance that if Asma does not get elected, the one right-wing candidate who does not support any diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts whatsoever will end up on the D86 School Board. We simply cannot allow that to happen.
